Antarctica, the huge land mass covering the South Pole, is very difficult to reach. Years ago, there have been regular passenger flights from New Zealand. Due to an incident, this service is not offered anymore. Nowadays, Antarctica can be reached by (cruise) boat from the very southern tip of Latin America. However, the currently available cruises are far too expensive for any backpacker budget. Therefore, I am not sure whether I will ever manage to step onto the lands of Antarctica with my own feet.
