About the country

I didn’t consider traveling to Guatemala in the first place. Somehow, I thought about it as being too dangerous, too risky, for tourists. However, when I did some research regarding possible locations for a Spanish language course, Guatemala has often been recommended in regard to its comparatively clear Spanish, affordable courses and good quality of teaching. There are not many countries which are recommendable with respect to the clarity of Spanish, but at one point I had to decide.
In many cases, when I was telling friends about my plans to travel to Latin America, I have been told to check out Antigua. When I asked around whether anyone already has made some experience with Spanish courses in Latin America, San Pedro la Laguna on Lago de Atitilán has been mentioned and highly been recommended. There are plenty of schools in this village at the Lake, I chose Orbita Spanish School, based on recommendations and internet research. So I start my whole Sabbatical experience and adventure with a Spanish course in Guatemala. And then let’s see what comes next. 🙂
